Salisu to speak at Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Malaysia

Graduate student Haruna Mohammed Salisu will speak at the Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Nov. 20-24. Over 1,500 journalists worldwide will attend one of the world’s largest gatherings dedicated to strengthening investigative reporting and defending press freedom.
Salisu will join the panel “Privacy vs. Accountability: Countering Regulations that Affect Investigative Journalists,” which explores how investigative journalists navigate tightening privacy laws, data-protection rules, and legal intimidation that threatens press freedom.
At The Media School, Salisu’s research focuses on media law, press freedom, newsroom, and sustainability.
