Joyce Nyakato was 29 years old when she died Sept. 2, 2015. She was diagnosed with three brain tumors in July and hospitalized in August. Nyakato was born in Uganda and was a writer at New Vision, one of the country’s largest newspapers. She once traveled to Uganda with professor Jim Kelly to help with a summer class that reports on the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
