Kristina Hunter Mullis completed the Chicago marathon in October 2019, her second marathon in less than a year. She is working on a Ph.D. in the IU School of Public Health. Previously, she served as a health promotions manager for the American Lung Association in Pascagoula, Mississippi. She also managed a grant through the Mississippi State Department to program planning and outreach initiatives to all ages in the community and taught online classes in community health at Southern New Hampshire University. Hunter Mullis formerly worked as a public affairs specialist at the U.S. Naval Base in Yokosuka, Japan.
