Jane Garton died on Nov. 25, 2023. She was a journalist, mentor, activist, feminist, and an educator. She worked at the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce & Industry for many years, where she was instrumental in founding Leadership Fox Cities. Garton was the founding doner and first executive director for the Women's Fund for the Fox Valley Region. She taught journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley. Early in her career, she worked as a sport information officer for Lawrence University's communications office. Garton also authored the novel "Pedal Cars: Chasing the Kidillac," which detailed the history of pedal cars. (January 2024)
