Deanna Csomo Ferrell teaches Principles of Science Communications at the University of Notre Dame for science majors and journalism minors. Her essay, "Total Eclipse," was honored with publication in the 2020 Best American Science and Nature Writing anthology. She earned her master's degree in science writing from Johns Hopkins University in 2018. She also works as senior assistant director of marketing communications for Notre Dame's College of Science.
