Howard Senzell died Jan. 24 at age 74. 

Senzell began reporting for the former Triangle Publications after he graduated from IU. He joined and later became president of the National Turf Writers Association, traveled to cover races and became an authority on the thoroughbred industry. 

He had a daily column in the sports section of The Press Democrat, recommending picks for horse races.
