Sheldon Shafer passed away on April 8, 2024. Schafer was a retired reporter who spent 44 years at the Louisville Courier-Journal. His beat revolved around local government, politics, development and many Louisville agencies. Shafer was inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame in April. He estimated that he had written 25,000 stories by the time he retired in 2017. (April 2024)
